We urge you to exercise vigilance during the ignition, maintenance, and extinguishing stages of using a fire pit to ensure everyone's safety.

Positioning Your Fire Pit

• Ensure that your fire pit is situated 10-25 feet away from any buildings or neighboring properties.
• Avoid positioning it beneath covered porches or low-hanging trees.
• Refrain from setting it up on wooden decks or grassy areas. Instead, use a non-flammable surface like concrete or patio blocks.

Preparation Measures

• Ascertain that the pit is a minimum of six inches deep at its center and spans at least two feet across.
• Thoroughly scan the area for flammable materials, and avoid lighting a fire in windy conditions.
• Have water, fire blankets, and/or fire extinguishers readily available.
• Use logs that are less than 3/4 the diameter of the pit and ensure they are stored at a safe distance.

Ignition Procedures

• Avoid using lighter fluid. Instead, employ kindling or a starter log.
• Do not burn garbage or softwood in the fire as these can cause popping and sparks.
• Arrange seating at a sensible distance, and ensure children and pets maintain a minimum distance of 3 feet.
• Avoid wearing flammable or loose-fitting attire.

Fire Pit Management

• Do not leave your fire unattended at any point.
• Ensure that children and pets are never left alone near the fire pit.
• Consider purchasing a wire screen to keep embers contained and to deter children or pets.
• Maintain a careful control of fuel to manage flame intensity.

Extinguishing Steps

• Extinguish flames with water and use a shovel to stir the ashes, ensuring complete extinguishment.
• Dispose of ashes in a metal container as they may remain hot for several days.
